ICON DESIGNS
My first assignment in GBDA! I worked hard to try a new style in illustrator and push myself to have depth in my design.
Overview
For this assignment, we were required to pick a category and create icons for it. I chose "computer storage hardware" and created a cassette tape, CD case, and SD card. I tried to make it bright and vintage, experimenting with blending modes for the first time on Illustrator! Overall, I'm really proud of the final design for this project, since it heavily influenced my design style going forward :)
Outcomes
I treated this assignment as something more than a simple design project. I wanted to make something polished instead of the typical minimalistic straightforward icons. In class, we learned about how icons evolved and its intended purposes. Since we were allowed to experiment, I took an illustrative approach. In the end, my Illustrator knowledge jumped because I experimented with textures and lighting.
